Separate your departure from the vehicle collection
Tell SYA Rescue whether you will be present, leaving soon or already elsewhere. A checkout time or onward travel booking is useful context, but it is not a confirmed collection deadline. Explain when the vehicle can legitimately remain and who has authorised that arrangement. Accommodation staff or a parking operator may need to approve access independently of your room or parking booking.
Do not leave keys with an unnamed person and assume the transport can be completed. Agree who will release them, how they will identify the authorised collection and what happens if their shift ends. Share necessary contact information through the booking conversation rather than publishing key locations or access codes on a public page.
Describe the actual parking space
Provide the vehicle's position within the site, not only the accommodation's postal address. A rear parking area may have a different approach from the reception entrance. Report known barriers, height restrictions, ramps or narrow approaches without guessing measurements. If access details are uncertain, ask the site operator for the relevant information instead of assuming the public entrance is suitable.
Explain the car's movement condition separately from its parking position. A vehicle that cannot start may still roll and steer, while another may have locked wheels or inaccessible controls. State which facts are known. Avoid promising that staff will move the car to a better space unless they have the authority and a suitable arrangement to do so.
Choose a destination you can actually hand over to
Decide whether the request is for delivery to a repairer, home or another agreed address, then identify the recipient. A long journey home may require a different quotation from a local workshop collection. If a garage is involved, confirm that it accepts the vehicle and its condition; do not rely solely on having found its address online.
If you travel separately, make sure the destination contact knows when they may be needed and what they are receiving. Vehicle transport does not automatically include the driver's or passengers' return journey, luggage transfer or accommodation costs. Ask about any related need expressly so the accepted vehicle job remains clear.
Keep a usable record for an absent owner
Before leaving, where safe and permitted, record the car's visible condition and identify which keys or documents will be handed over. This is a practical communication aid, not a technical inspection or proof that every component works. Tell SYA Rescue if another person has access to the vehicle between your departure and collection.
Keep your phone reachable for decisions about unexpected access or condition changes. If another person will take over, identify their authority before you become unavailable. The Bournemouth area page lists the wider service context; this collection guide is specifically about coordinating the vehicle when the owner and car are no longer together.
